To be a writer is to be curious – to want to know how things work, what moves people, where the good stuff is. You never stop having that childlike wonder about everything around you in the world, and you have something inside you that calls out to write it down and share it with others.
Hi, I’m Kastle Waserman, and I’ve been a writer since I was a young kid, writing stories to give my parents as gifts. At age 15, I began writing for my first publication; a local paper in Houston called Public News.
I earned my degree in journalism and went on to become an editor and reporter at the Los Angeles Times for five years covering lifestyle and entertainment.
I’ve been published in Denver’s Westword alternative weekly, the New York Post, Yahoo!, Fodor’s Travel Books, Women’s Wear Daily and more.
My career has taken me everywhere from interviewing entertainment icons including Gwen Stefani, Johnny Rotten, Lily Tomlin and Michael Moore to experts in interior design, art, beauty, fashion, travel and personal finance. I was a contributing editor for Fodor’s Travel Books, writing updates for four editions of their Los Angeles Travel books, as well as a contributor to Best Places Travel Books and Virgin Travel Guides.
In 2010, I founded the lifestyle blog StilettoCity.com featuring vintage-inspired fashion, service/how-to pieces and local travel hotspots. I also co-wrote and was featured in the award-winning documentary, “Berlin Calling,” to tell the story of my Holocaust survivor father.
My skill set includes journalism, editing, editorial production processes, SEO, editorial calendars, CMS content uploading, content marketing, photography (amateur-level but learning!)
In my spare time, I enjoy reading creative non-fiction, journaling, treasure hunting in vintage stores, traveling the world, volunteering at a local animal shelter, and finding endless delight in pop culture.
I’ve never stopped being curious.
Take a look around and get to know me and my work. I’m glad you stopped by!
